A Clutch for Every Occasion

If you read Stylebook regularly, you know I carry two kinds of purses: either a really big tote that holds everything, or a clutch. I don’t do a lot of the in-between. Not that I don’t like the other options; just, for my life, that is what works.

When it comes to buying for the store, I probably lean a little too into these types of bags as well. When I was going through the drawers the other day, I realized I really went big on clutches this year. There were just so many good options I couldn’t resist.

We used to carry Jerome Dreyfuss—and I’m not saying we won’t again—and one of their most popular bags was a clutch called the Clic Clan. It really was perfect, and when they stopped making it, I was devastated. When I saw the Le Tabac from Clare V., I thought it was a great replacement for the Clic Clan. That perfect size that fits a phone and lipstick, and it’s a bit more elevated, I must say. Just the perfect nighttime clutch.

Staud just returned to The Hive, and their purses always do well. The CY Convertible Bag is my favorite. I would use it as a clutch, but it has the strap for versatility.

Then one more bag that stopped me in my tracks is the Roll Up Grocer by TWP. It is just stunning, and it really doesn’t matter what you are wearing when you are carrying this bag. I just can’t decide what color to buy, but I need one in my life.

Stop by and check out our great selection of clutches and handbags.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
