Bring on the Denim: AMO is at The Hive

I follow tons of other stores and brands on Instagram. Besides menopause and dogs, that is pretty much the only topic that populates my algorithm. I love to see what other boutiques are doing on social media and, for our events, this research—if I can call it that—is where a lot of my ideas start to take shape. I was watching a story from another independently owned boutique, and the owner was talking about her most worn items from 2025. Two of the items were from AMO, a line we carried many years ago. I came upon AMO again last year when I went to the showroom that represented Sold Out NYC, one of our newer lines. They mentioned I should take a look at AMO again; it was “having a moment,” they said. I shrugged it off and said maybe next time.

When I watched this story, though, it made me think maybe I had messed up. I called my rep, and I decided this was the perfect time to bring it back to The Hive. One of my goals for 2026 is to have more denim offerings and to make sure we are always stocked with sizes.

I now think AMO is the perfect complement to our current jean selection.

My top pick is the Frida, a great wide-leg jean that is very flattering. It is the only style I got in two colors because I know people are going to love it. Next up was the Billie, more of a casual cut with a bit of slouch and ease. The Loverboy reminds me of what everyone wants: a classic cropped silhouette with a bit of a flare. The second pant that was on this owner’s most worn list was the Easy Army Trouser. Sometimes you don’t want to wear denim, and this is the pant that fills that void in your closet. You can wear it all year, and it’s easy to style.

Of course, I had to try some of their tops and tees just to see which ones everyone would love. There are lots of great colors and options to try, like the Adore Tee and Puff Sleeve Top

Stop in and shop our newest arrivals, and check out all the great items still left in the sale section.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
