Fall Has Arrived at The Hive

This fall has been all about change at the stores. You have seen a lot of new faces on the floor and we have some new faces behind the scenes; well not totally behind the scenes. You may recognize a familiar visage in our fall campaign. My good friend and the former owner of She’s Unique, Katya has been spending a little more time with us lately.

Once everything started moving sideways in my life this summer, I went into a mode of: "how do I get this all that needs to be done at the stores done," which is oddly what I am really good at. I probably missed out on a career in logistics, I started calling my friends like Ali to help me style shoots, Chris Bishop to help me do photography and then I thought, maybe I should reach out to my old friend Katya. I always admired her content when she owned She's Unique and thought maybe I could at least pick her brain. Well, I lucked out and got more than just some ideas. Katya came on board to help with storytelling, content and all things The Hive.

The other great news was she was a package deal. She partnered with her talented friend Sara for photography, video and design. They are the dream team. If you want to check out more of their work you can find them at saranabizadeh.com and katyaananieva.com. Also keep your eyes out for the launch of their joint company.

Naturally, I had to put Katya in front of the camera too. She styled and modeled for our Fall Edit. We pulled together some of our favorite new arrivals the way we actually love to wear them: mixing designers, playing with proportions and making the pieces our own. Because the best wardrobes aren’t built one brand at a time.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
