Fall Ready-to-Wear Clothes by Arlo Mott

This fall, I really focused on changing our shoe selection, but we always like to add some newness to our ready-to-wear offerings as well. One of the lines I am most excited about is Arlo Mott.

I will say, if our customers don’t love this latter line, it is possible I have no idea what I am doing. In my opinion, this line works perfectly for what our customers really want: great-looking clothes that are comfortable and timeless. When you think trendy or fast fashion, this is the opposite.

Not only is it new to our store this fall, but we are also hosting a trunk show this weekend.

The brand is founded by husband-and-wife team Alex and Karen Drexler, along with Susan Woo. Susan and Karen met when their kids attended the same preschool, and the brand evolved from conversations about a need for great-looking clothes that suited their changing lives as mothers of young children. They wanted to be comfortable but put-together at drop-off and pick-up, but not overdressed. They are all veterans of the fashion industry, and Alex is the founder of Alex Mill. Once you see the clothes, this all makes sense. It is a collection based on foundations and staples in your wardrobe.

The signature piece of the collection is their poplin button-down. At first I thought, do we really need another button-down? We have Frank & Eileen and TWP, so it really had to be different to make the cut. The detail and the fabric have somehow made a poplin shirt just a little more interesting, which isn’t an easy task.

The sweaters are also so luxurious and cozy, but my favorite pieces are the corduroy jacket and skirt. The collar on the jacket and the ease of the fit are perfect.

I hope you love the line as much as I do. This is only the second season for the line overall, and we are thrilled to be one of the new stores carrying it this fall. The trunk show kicks off this Thursday, October 15th, through October 18th, and all Arlo Mott is 20 percent off.

They sent us as much as they could. Luckily for them, the line is being so well received that they didn’t have a ton of inventory, which is really great for a new brand. But they did send us a great package, and I know it will go quickly.

Stop in and see us and all of our other great new arrivals!

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
