Maison Marche Popup Event

I have always said that one of the best parts about owning the store is the relationships I have with the people who work here. It really is like a family, or at least I hope it feels like that most days.

We always have a few high school young women who work with us and tend to come back during their college years as well. It is so fun to see where they all head off to and watch them grow up over the years. This sounds so silly to say, but I swear college flies by, and before you know it, I am sending wedding gifts and baby presents.

One woman that I have always remained close to is Maddie. She started at The Shoe Hive back in 2019 when she was a sophomore. Fast forward seven years, and she has graduated from South Carolina. She has worked in fashion over the years through various internships, and I have always hoped that one day she would be the next owner of this place! Dare to dream. But for now, she is figuring out her path, and part of that is hosting an event with Maison Marche.

If you haven’t heard of Maison Marche, it is a different retail concept that combines online shopping with pop-up shops at people’s homes or other intimate locations. Maddie and her mom are hosting an event at their home in Alexandria on June 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The founder, Sarah Easley, will even be there to help you shop! She is the co-founder of legendary retailer Kirna Zabête and finds emerging designers that you can’t find in most places.

She has a curated selection of home goods, jewelry, and clothing that you don’t want to miss. I am sad to say I will be on a trip for my mom’s 80th birthday, so I won’t be there to join in the fun.

Below are just a few great pieces that will be at the event, along with other wonderful brands like Hanout, De Castro, Eleven Six, and Partou Soleil. Happy shopping.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
