The Gambler’s Sale: Place Your Bets on These Markdowns at The Hive

It is that time of year again: the time where we become a bit of a used car sales lot. We get out our red pens and we start slashing prices, at a rapid pace.

Over the years I have learned it is better to let folks know when the upcoming mark-downs will be, so they can decide if there is something they have been eyeing but wanted to wait for sale they can plan accordingly.

We don’t do price adjustments on site, but this way you know if you want to wait it out. It is all transparent. We call it "the gambler's sale." You can decide if you want to hedge your bets and wait for the next markdown, or go ahead and get it while you know we still have the size you want. If you wait too late, they may be gone.

There are still tons of great items left, especially shoes. We have so many shoes marked down! It used to be that only the 6 and 10 were left at this point, but don’t worry, we have some of everything.

If you are traveling, which most folks do during the summer, it will all be marked online as well. So shop early for the best selection or hold on tight for the lower prices. This Thursday we are marking all sales to 40 percent off and then in 3 weeks we take it down to 50 off then the last reduction before Tax Free Weekend and Sidewalk Sale is 60 off on July 23. If you want to mark your calendars, Tax Free Weekend in the state of Virginia is August 7 to 9 and Sidewalk Sale is August 14 to 16.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
