Inside The Hive’s Spring Lookbook

Last week we had a great week of weather and now we all have spring on our mind. I know lots of Stylebook readers are also packing up for spring break. I am headed to tropical Ohio for break so I don’t need shorts and flip flops, but I still had to pick-up a few new pieces. In the store this week you will find plenty of buy-now-wear-now options for the unpredictable months of March and April.

This spring brings us the usual floral dresses and brighter colors that we all expect, but what else is in store for you? This season we continue to have lots and lots of sets - in all different colors and fabrics. There are sets to sit on the beach and sets to wear to the office. The biggest trend I noticed is sweaters that are crochet or pointelle - basically an exaggerated or oversized knit look. These are preferable for the warm weather if you want to feel a little more covered up but don’t want to be too hot. Some people will just wear these with a bra but I think most will layer with a tank or cami. We are also seeing lots of lady-like cardigans and feminine tops.

My favorite trend is the light weight leather pieces from TWP and Tibi. I have Tibi leather shorts that are 7 years old and I still wear them more than most things in my closet so they are worth the investment.

Whatever you are looking for this spring, casual or dressy, we are sure to have something - especially at one of our spring trunk shows, there are still 5 more we have to host.

Stop in and see us or you can always shop online.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
