Ulla Johnson Trunk Show at The Hive: Styled Looks

We just wrapped up our Veronica Beard Trunk Show, and it was a huge success. Thanks to everyone who came out and supported us. Now it’s time for Ulla Johnson. I know we are all ready for spring after this horrible winter. Nothing says spring more than Ulla Johnson, and this season doesn’t disappoint. It might actually be my favorite since we started carrying the line.

I feel like I say that every time, but this spring Ulla did a collaboration with the Foundation for Helen Frankenthaler. The custom fabrics, based on three of her paintings, are truly breathtaking. I wish we had pieces from all three, but we focused on two: Moontide and Nature Abhors a Vacuum. I wish we had every item, but I picked my favorites—pieces that I thought were the most wearable. I love the gowns, but I realize gowns aren’t fixtures in all of our lives. Even so, I couldn’t pass up the paillette set.

I asked some of my friends to model the collection and am lucky enough to have friends with homes that match the beauty of these pieces. Thank you, Blaise and Shelia, for opening your doors to us. I even got Shelia to model.

As you can see, if you have an event this spring, these are the perfect outfits. But Ulla isn’t just for events. They have great denim and separates that you can incorporate into your everyday life. They also make the best jersey fabric we carry, in both a dress and a top. I especially love the button-up that Jen is wearing.

Come check out our event at The Hive, which kicks off Thursday, March 12 and runs through Sunday, March 14. The best part? All Ulla is 20 percent off.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
