Tibi Book Club & Styling Event You Won’t Want to Miss at The Hive
I have been in retail for 24 years. As I typed that sentence, I kind of had to take a deep breath, as that is a really long time. I can say with confidence that I have worked with hundreds of brands. I can also say with confidence that the brand that has been the best to work with has been Tibi. This is not to say that there are not a lot of other great brands to work with; I am not saying that. I could give a long list of wonderful brands and sales representatives.
But very few founders have ever been to my store. There are only three, in fact, and one of them is Amy Smilovic. This puts us in very good company with some other remarkable stores like Space 519, Kick Pleat, Max Fashion, and McMullen. If you think about it, founders clearly can’t visit every account—it would be impossible. Being on this very impressive list is flattering.
That is just one reason why we love working with Tibi. The second is the fact that they even do trunk shows at all. We are known for trunk shows, but not many brands do them—or do them as well as Tibi. If Amy isn’t in the store, then we get the lovely Keturah and Christine. They also send tons of great pieces we don’t normally have in the store. It is a great way to see an expanded selection of the current season.
Combine this with the fact that they only sell to independent retailers, they let us place special orders, and they let us reorder. And did I mention the clothes are amazing? They are well made and thoughtful and have really helped me, along with countless others, feel like ourselves when we get dressed.
In a few weeks, she is coming to my store for, I think, her third visit. The first event is Wednesday night for a Book Club. She published her second book, Almost Reckless, this year. It is a business book, and it is also a book about taking risks, which, as an entrepreneur, I would say is something you have to be willing to do. What is that saying? "There is no reward without risk."
Tibi has a ton of great online content, like Style Class and all the different people, like Keturah, on social media who help us understand what to wear and how to style it. I consume all of it, but what I enjoy the most are Amy’s Substacks and podcast, which are more business-focused. Her insight is invaluable, and I learn something every time.
I am so thrilled that she is coming to The Hive on her book tour. Sign up here for the event, which will be held in the store from 6 pm to 8 pm. We will have time to enjoy a glass of wine before the talk, which starts at 6:30. Come with your questions, and if you haven’t purchased Almost Reckless, it will be available at the event.
