The TWP Lookbook

I’m always on the hunt for new brands for the store. Sometimes I get it right, and sometimes I miss it entirely. I wish I could explain why certain labels don’t work. I’ll never fully understand why we couldn’t sell Nili Lotan or Joseph, but we couldn’t.

I was a little hesitant to bring in TWP at first. It’s priced slightly higher than some of our other brands, but I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It kept popping up in my feed, and I wanted everything they make. Then one day at work, Angelika walked in wearing an incredible shirt. I was convinced it was TWP and had to ask. Turns out she was just as obsessed as I was, which felt like all the confirmation I needed.

We brought the line in about two years ago around this time, and it’s been a hit ever since. We started with their shirts, which is really what put the brand on the map. Keep an eye out for a post next week focused entirely on their shirting. Over the years, we’ve expanded our assortment, and with each delivery, more people fall in love with TWP.

Simply put, TWP makes really beautiful clothes. There’s an ease to every piece, but the quality is undeniable. The fabrics are exceptional, with plenty of leather, suede, and sequins woven into the collections. Their featherweight leather is unlike anything I’ve seen in my 23 years of retail—it truly feels like butter, and you have to touch it to believe it’s leather. Most fabrics are sourced in Italy, and all of the clothing is made in New York.

TWP has quickly become one of our most popular brands, and I couldn’t be happier about it. We’re hosting our second TWP trunk show next week, featuring new spring arrivals with a special focus on their signature shirting. And really, couldn’t we all use a great new shirt?

The best part: all TWP will be 20% off for the weekend. Join us Thursday, Feb. 19 through Sunday, Feb. 22. You won’t want to miss it—I know you’ll love it as much as I do.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
