Sweater Weather is Here: The Mohair Moment
I am sure you can imagine that your local wool shop gets a bit giddy when sweater weather finally arrives. This season, we love seeing “high pile” textures in knits at our local boutiques and on runways – lots of fuzz, floof, fringe and fur! Oversized fuzzy and furry garments were all over runways for fall and winter, and Mohair in particular is having its moment again. Mohair fibre comes from the long-haired Angora goat (By the way, Angora fibre comes from a rabbit. So confusing, we know). This long fibre is what creates the halo effect – that gentle fuzz that we see on Mohair garments. This texture is SO on trend this season, and we are here for it!
We just got in an exceptional Mohair yarn - Loopy Mango Mohair So Soft. Since it’s a super bulky yarn, you can make a hat or cowl in less than an hour or a sweater in a few hours.
A few of my team and I are whipping up this simple pullover, which requires only basic knit and purl skills to make (and a few hours of your time). We wanted a quick satisfying project, and the oversized and boxy style of this simple sweater fits with this season’s hottest trends.
All of the patterns for this yarn are free with purchase too. If you don’t quite have sweater skills yet, perhaps try a fuzzy hat in one of the incredible colors we have in stock.
