Forsaking All Others: Tibi
If you told me I could only pick one line of clothing to wear exclusively, the decision for me would be very simple: TIBI. It is rare to find me not wearing something from the brand. There is an ease about the clothes that resonate with me and, simply put, makes getting dressed simple.
When the shutdown occurred almost two years ago the founder of Tibi, Amy Smilovic, started doing style classes on the company's Instagram. I don't think anything has ever helped me understand my personal style and how to make the most of the pieces I own than these Instagram Live events did. She teaches you how to strike a balance between chic and chill, which is exactly where I personally want to be. You know that feeling you get when you put on something, and it just makes you feel not like yourself? There is something off, and you just can't figure out what it is? Has that happened to you?
She explains perfectly why things don't work together and just make you feel, "meh." They have even created a Tibictionary to help explain some of the most commonly asked style questions they get. One line she uses often is wear the clothes for the life you live and don't not wear that cashmere sweater because you are just running to a kids baseball game and then the grocery. That is when you should wear it, that is your life. Well, not everyone's, I guess, but mine. So, I shouldn't save it for something else.
In the next few weeks (and really months) in Stylebook, we are going to breakdown down some of these terms and how you can make Tibi work in your wardrobe. To kick off our Tibi lovefest, we are hosting a trunk show featuring their Fundamentals Collection for spring. Another term she uses to describe how these pieces will work in your life is WOFs, short for "Without Fails." These are the items that you know you will always feel good in. The pieces that can be dressed up or down, the pieces that you can often wear all year round. They are the first things you pull out of your closet when you are packing for a trip, and in my case, it also includes the piece I am so annoyed I sent to the cleaners and forgot to pick up. For me, these are my chalky drape and nylon joggers. I wear them all the time. In the winter, I layer leggings underneath the nylon for warmth. They are on repeat. I had a panic attack once when I couldn't find them, so I got a backup pair; I wear them that much.
Our Tibi account executive, Christine, will be here Friday, January 21, to help answer all your Tibi styling questions. We just received a huge order of spring Fundamentals, and we have a few more pieces on the way. Tibi was also nice enough to send us some pieces for the event, and we will have them all weekend and the following week. So stop in and see why Tibi is the one clothing brand I can't live without. If you want to binge the first season of the Style Class Lives, you can find them in the link below on YouTube. When people ask me what show I am watching, this is it. It is better than anything on Netflix.
