Hilton Hollis Pop-Up at The Hive

Betsy Fisher opened her downtown women’s clothing boutique in 1998 and paved the way for independent retailers in the DMV. For more than 30 years, she taught us all the art of dressing well. Betsy recently closed her shop and moved out west. We are all sad to see her go but excited to see what she chooses to do next! If you know Betsy, you know she has something up her sleeve for sure. One of her clients reached out to me to see if I would help make sure one of her most popular lines, Hilton Hollis, was still represented in this area. I have always admired his collection, so obviously, I jumped at the chance.Hilton is a native of Mississippi, where his love of sewing and design was nurtured by his grandmother, a master quilter. As a child, he dreamed of moving to NYC to be a designer, and clearly, he made that dream come true. He is known for his contemporary feel and classic fit. I have heard customers go on and on about fabrics and how well they travel. His pants have what can only be described as a cult following. I can’t wait to buy a pair for myself. We are happy to announce that from November 12 - 15, we will be hosting a Hilton Hollis pop-up at The Hive. We will have a capsule of his fall 2020 collection and special orders are available. Don’t worry; we are going to have Hilton visit the store in person to feature his spring collection in 2021. We just didn’t want to miss an opportunity for his fall collection to come to Alexandria, even if only for a weekend. So, take advantage of this chance!Shop online or stop in and receive 20 percent off your Hilton Hollis purchase.

Truly a local girl, Penelope was born and raised in Alexandria, Virginia. Penelope went to James Madison University (GO DUKES!) for undergrad with a degree in International Relations and has her Masters of Science in International Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University. While she never expected to work retail, she has found a second home in her Hive and Shoe Hive family, and has discovered the shoe and clothing addiction she never thought she had. After spending 5 wonderful years at the Shoe Hive and Hive as their Director of Operations, Penelope now works in the International Development field in DC. While her new career has her more removed from the day to day buzzz of the stores, you can still find her moonlighting (or should we say some weekend-lighting) at the stores. She just couldn't stay away! When not working or hanging out with friends and family, you can be sure to find her exploring a new country or national park!
