Claus Porto: A Unique Gifting Idea
If you’ve visited The Shoe Hive lately, you’ve likely seen the gradual progression of our remodeling project in the back of the store. The large glass shelves on the brick wall came down, and the floating shelves that once displayed shoes have been replaced with beautiful cabinetry. Inspired by other stores, I scroll Instagram regularly to see what they’re doing well – their displays, themes, backgrounds, and what I might also like to incorporate or update. After much swiping, I finally found an example of what I had hoped our back room would look like. I wanted the space to seem intentional and easy to shop. And then, I put my plan into action.
We have always carried lots of gifts at The Shoe Hive: a few kids’ items, some candles, and other items that have grabbed my attention at the gift shows I attend. Sometimes, the sum of these items has no rhyme or reason, and in others, they make more sense. But as the years go by, our gift section has grown because our clients seem to love it. We are often a quick stop for a birthday present, or a little something for family or friends before an out-of-town visit. It’s easy to pick something up while you shop for shoes.
I have always wanted to carry a beauty line–not make-up, more "lotions and potions" with beautiful packaging that someone would be proud to display…and not hide away in a bathroom drawer. Annette had the perfect suggestion, Claus Porto. Made in Portugal since 1887, the scents and packaging of this line are like nothing I had seen before.
