Staff Picks: New Fall Arrivals

I am sitting in a hotel in Park City, Utah, as I write this, and the temperature outside is 55 degrees. As much as this annoys my family members – since they want to be outside hiking or at the pool – it thrills me. I only wish I had packed more sweatshirts. These low temperatures make me even more eager for fall. Unpacking all the sweaters and coats right now is basically torture for me. I want to start wearing them right now! But September is always hot in the DMV, so I’ll have to (not-so-patiently) bide my time.

While our new arrivals include lots of cool-weather pieces, there are also plenty of buy-now-wear-now pieces that will transition perfectly when the temperatures finally drop.

I asked everyone on my team to pick their favorite new fall arrival that can actually be worn now.  Okay, so maybe one of my picks (I had to do two because there is so much great stuff) is not really a wear-now piece, but I have been thinking about the cashmere varsity jacket from Allude since we ordered it back in February. The navy Ulla Johnson pants are an easy, wear-now-wear-later option. I feel like pants are having such a big moment right now, and we have so many fun selections. Look for a future Stylebook post on how to style the latest pant shapes and styles.

Stop in soon to check out our newest arrivals – and the amazing sale items left too. If you’re out of town, you always can shop our website.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
