A Homecoming for Kaylie Dawn: See Her Trunk Show at The Shoe Hive This Saturday

One of the best parts of being a store owner is the great people I get to work with every day. Smaller stores tend to attract employees who have a bit of an entrepreneurial spirit, and when I interview potential hires, I always ask why they want to work for a small business. If their answer is because they want to start their own business or open a shop some day, I know they’re the right fit.

That’s the kind of talent I like to surround myself with – those who want to learn, grow and hang up their own shingle in the future. When someone leaves our team and does exactly that, I will do whatever I can to support them.

Meet Kaylie (featured in Street Style in March). She worked at The Shoe Hive on the weekends for many years while holding down another full-time job. She moved away last year and decided to pursue her passion, starting her own jewelry line, Kaylie Dawn Jewelry. We started carrying the bracelets and they have been flying off the shelves! We figured, what better way to kick off our Fall Trunk Show Series than with Kaylie?

We know everyone has missed seeing her and she keeps expanding her line. We are especially excited about her new gold-filled pieces; they won’t tarnish and will stack perfectly with your fine jewelry pieces.

Kaylie will be here all day Saturday, September 23rd from 10 am to 6 pm. Stop by and browse her latest collections and receive 20 percent off! And if there is something you browsed online that she didn’t bring, she can always order it for you.

What a great way to kick off fall!

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
