I Have A Confession To Make

In today's post, I have a major confession to make. But I consider Stylebook readers my friends, so I'm just going to let it all out. I was sitting in the basement (we call it "the dungeon") at The Hive last Thursday, and an email popped onto my screen saying "can't wait to see you next Thursday" from Hart Hagerty and another from Hart's sister, Curry, saying "can't wait to see you next Thursday." Then a wave of embarrassment came over me. I totally forgot. I felt like such a jerk. How could I forget that Hart, the first designer EVER to make an appearance in our store, was coming back to see us? And my forgetfulness led me to not tell YOU far enough in advance.

Well, now you know, and I hope you will come see them! Hart will be in our store Thursday, June 2, from 10am to 6pm, and Friday, June 3, from 10am to 2pm to make custom necklaces. The last time she was here was September of 2019, and we literally had a line out the door waiting to see her. If you haven't met her, when you do, you will see why so many people thought it was a must-do event. She is so fun and personable, and she looks you in the eyes so that you feel like you have known her forever. She is a great storyteller as well, and that translates to her jewelry, too. So many of the charms she uses tell a story which is what makes her pieces so special. You can custom make a necklace to tell your own story, and I have yet to meet someone who isn't thrilled with their selection. The other great part about these pieces is they don't tarnish. They stand the test of time, and you will never want to take it off.

I hope you will come by Thursday or Friday to meet Hart and her sister Curry. By now, you know that Rebecca and I love all the sister duos in this business! I am sad to say I won't be here due to a family obligation in Ohio. Maybe I was in denial about my conflict, and that is why I forgot it was happening. I am so sad to miss out on the fun. I will have to FaceTime in from Ohio or something. You can pre-shop the charms on her site https://harthagerty.com or check out our Instagram this week for lots of great ideas. They are the perfect graduation gift as well.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
