Take A Photo Tour Of An Old Town Transformation

A picture is worth a thousand words, and this week we are giving you a photo tour of one of our latest projects in Old Town. This three-story split-level townhome was simply not working for the family of four: the small kitchen was located in the basement, there were only two bedrooms, and the entire family was sharing one full bathroom.

The family loved the charm and location of their home, so they reached out to Marks-Woods for some updates. The first things we noticed were the oversized backyard and that the unit was an end unit. This meant there was plenty of room to add a three-story addition and expand the square footage of their home.

Working with architect Laura Campbell, we nearly doubled the square footage. The big change: we moved the kitchen from the basement to the main floor, where it now serves as the focal point when you enter the home. The basement was converted into a recreation room to include access to the backyard, additional windows, a full bath and bedroom, and a custom bar featuring Braemar Cabinetry.

We updated the existing bathroom on the top floor and made it kid-friendly with a floating green vanity and tub/shower combo. In addition, the former primary bedroom was converted into a second kids' room. The new primary suite is located in the new construction part of the home. The suite features closets galore, a full bathroom, its own laundry, and, our favorite part, a vaulted ceiling.

The homeowners are thrilled with the results! This is a perfect example of how you can stay in your current home and transform it into something that works for your family now and for years to come. So take a look inside. I'll let the photos tell the rest of the story!
