Introducing Odeeh at The Hive

Each season I try to bring in one or two new brands to The Hive. I have an ongoing list on my desk of potential lines I want to see when we head to market. Some of these are brands I see on other stores’ social media. Some are from wonderful showrooms we visit that carry brands I’m always keeping an eye on.

One of these showrooms is called Fashionhaus. It has a curated selection of mainly European brands that aren’t heavily distributed in the United States. It’s where we go to see Allude, one of our favorite brands. While we’re there we always take a quick peek at the other brands, and hope one day we will have room in our budget to carry them.

Well, I’m not sure if we had room in our budget or it’s just that Rebecca, my sister, wasn’t there to stop me from overspending, but we finally placed one of the lines we had long admired. Annette and I couldn’t resist the fall collection for Odeeh. I think there was clapping and jumping as we looked at it! Odeeh is a German line created by Jorg Ehrlich and Otto Drogsler. Their attention to detail and unique designs are deliberate and sophisticated. The designs are what first drew us in, but when you start looking closer it’s the fabrics that really made us fall in love. We discovered they are all developed exclusively for them in Lake Como, Italy.

I have never seen anything like their fabrics; we knew we had to order some pieces. When it arrived we were still clapping and jumping. It was just as beautiful as we remembered. We thought these pieces would be especially great for the women who have to go into the office. I am always impressed by our clients; they have major jobs. Oftentimes they stop in asking for an outfit for a big presentation, possibly testifying before Congress or a conference they need to attend. Odeeh is perfect for these occasions. We asked Lindsay, one of our working moms, to model for us. She is always on-the-go, attending to her two young kids and her career. She is often quickly running in to grab something for a work event, and we knew with her elegant style it would be a perfect pairing.

Come see all of our arrivals for fall and our newest line, Odeeh at The Hive.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
