My First Mother's Day

When Elizabeth asked me to write my Mother’s Day wish list this year, I had to pinch myself. I am officially a mama and I could not be more thrilled to be so! Ruby came into our lives on Halloween day of 2018 and my life has been forever enriched. I’ve never been more in love (sorry, honey!) but that’s not to say being a mother isn't the hardest work I’ve ever done -- it is -- but it is also by far the most rewarding.Every day it gets better and maybe even a little easier. And while I need nothing to celebrate my first Mother's Day besides my sweet little girl, I also think I deserve a little something, if you know what I mean, mamas! Gift giving is apparently a love language of mine. I do hope my husband is reading this! ;-)Lately, I have been so into jewelry. While Ruby isn’t quite at the stage of pulling on everything and because I am still working on my pre-baby body, jewelry is a way to spice up my current wardrobe so it doesn’t feel stale. I am obsessed with the new Alx&Co. line at The Shoe Hive and truly think Elizabeth and Meagan have captured a timeless and classic line of necklaces and bracelets that will be enjoyed for years and years to come. I love the simplicity of the designs and think they are just beautiful. I want the hammered small disk with Ruby’s birthstone, which happens to be opal, ideally in pink, my favorite color. That leads me to my next request: the pre-fall Golden Goose sneakers in the white/pink Hi Stars. I had a pair of GG’s while pregnant and, man, did I get my cost per wear out of them. I am a converted fan of GGs and there’s no going back. Worth every penny. You still feel cool, you are immensely comfortable, and I swear once you have a pair they go with everything! If you haven’t got on the bandwagon, I suggest you do, especially all you moms out there!! Yes, you will be the #coolmom.Next up, I can’t get enough “sophisticated" sweats, especially after my workouts when I need to run some errands. We always have a great selection of Sundry sweats that are great for traveling, hanging with the baby at home, or running errands. It just makes me feel better. If there’s anything I have learned from being a mom is that you just need to do whatever it is that makes you feel better, taking a shower, doing that one-hour workout class, putting new sweats on. You do you, mama, and the baby will be happy. Happy mom = happy baby.Lastly, one of my favorite trunk shows, Lizzie Fortunato, happens to be on Mother’s Day Weekend this year and I always like to get a special piece that we only have at the trunk show. This year I have decided I want to get a fabulous statement necklace because I love a good statement necklace and it will go with just about any old white blouse or t-shirt that I have! While we have the Lizzie Trunk Show going on at The Hive, we will have our annual Mother’s Day craft station in the courtyard at The Shoe Hive. Tell your husbands to bring the little ones and while they are doing a craft, we will wrap up your wish list so you get exactly what you want. How about that to make life easier? See below for all the details. One of my favorite mom bloggers, @theHisfor, recently shared a post that resonated with me and I want to share it with all of you:

"To all you mommas out there, you’re doing amazing. You’re tired. You’re overwhelmed. You feel guilty about everything. You’re trying to find the instruction manual at every stage. You’re busy. You’re swimming in a world of expectations to be perfect -- expectations that are unattainable. BUT, you’re in love. BUT the work is worth it. BUT the love. The LOVE. And the JOY!!!You are the only person in the history of the world who has been called to mother your children. Seriously, repeat after me (enter your child’s name in the blank): “I’m the only person in the history of the world to be called to mother _________.” And guess what... you’re doing a damn good job at it. WHAT A LEGACY!Tag a mom who needs to be reminded that she’s amazing and that the work she’s doing is changing the world. (Basically every mom out there!) I see you, mama! And I applaud you!!”

Happy Mother’s Day!
