Gifts To Celebrate the Bundle of Love in Your Family & Friend Circle

In my recent Street Style profile, it referenced “a new bundle of love on his way.” In our family, we have several September birthdays, so we were thrilled when our grandson picked his own September date, sending his mom into labor on Labor Day (very fitting)! Our son and his wife welcomed Hayes Oliver Mertins into the world, and we are so happy to again feel the newborn bliss and joy a child brings to fill our hearts.

While their young family nestles in at home, the rest of their very large respective families are visiting, making meals and – taking photos. With so many precious moments captured, it will be hard to decide which to frame. I know many parents and grandparents with hundreds of photos on their phones because they cannot bear to delete any – even the blurry ones (special in their own way because they capture the frenetic energy of littles ones). Which leads me to the topic of frames, because of course, that’s where my interior design mind flows.

Kim, my business partner, and I believe it’s best to keep the style of photo frames similar so that the photos are the center of attention.

Here’s Why It’s Best to Use One Style of Frame:

Uniformity. A single style of frame can create a sense of uniformity and cohesion in your space, making it look more organized and deliberate.

Simplicity. It can simplify the process of selecting frames since you don’t need to make choices about which frame style to use for each photo.

Minimalism. If you prefer a minimalist or contemporary aesthetic using one frame style and help maintain a clean and simple look.

While frames are always a welcome gift for new parents, Patina has other special gifts to celebrate the parents while they marvel at the beautiful new human in their home. Here’s some inspiration…

Patina Polished Living was created 10 years ago by friends Amanda Mertins and Kimberly Weiler.

Amanda Mertins was born in Ohio and graduated the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics. She started moving and editing furniture and accessories while in grade school and hasn’t stopped since. She enjoys baking desserts and playing with her grandchildren.

Kim Weiler was born in Pennsylvania and graduated the University of the Arts with a degree in graphic design. Upon graduating, she was immediately hired by one of her professors at the Katz Wheeler Design firm. She loves design, gardening, sweet tea and all French bulldogs.

Amanda and Kim are excellent complements to one another-one could even say the Yin and Yang of design. Being very different people but with interconnected forces is the reason their partnership continues to flourish.
