Celebrate the Last Day of School at Pippin Toy Co.!

The last day of school may be one of the best days of the year for a kid. Summer fun is calling and homework is in the rearview mirror. For a parent it’s bittersweet. I always looked forward to not being driven by a schedule, but also sad because they were another year older and closer to leaving the nest. In the end, we were all excited for a well-deserved rest. To kick off this summer and celebrate the passing of another school year, we’re throwing a little party at Pippin Toy Co. on June 12 from 1pm to 4pm. The fun will start with crafting and milk and cookies.

Plus, Alexandria’s finest librarians will be on hand to sign your kids up for an official library card and we will be giving out our Summer Reading kits. Did you know that every child in Alexandria City Public Schools automatically gets a library card? To get full access to the library’s collection and to check out more books than the automatic library card allows, it’s best to sign up. Also, for parents, did you know that Alexandria’s libraries no longer charge late fees? I know I could have used that when my kids were little!

And, quite possibly my favorite thing, our new neighbors-to-be, Nothing In Between Studio, will be offering complimentary Express Mini manicures with Dazzle Dry polish, a kid-friendly, non-toxic, and hypoallergenic formula that dries quickly, so you don’t have to worry about them smudging the colors and they don’t have time to get impatient. NIB Studio will be at Pippin Toy Co. from 1pm to 3pm. We are beside ourselves with anticipation of their opening and cannot wait to get a taste of what’s to come!

Let’s get the summer started!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations.
