Shop Elizabeth’s Top 5 Items She Can’t Live Without

I thought I would share some of my favorite things at the store right now. Since the entire store only goes on sale two times a year, our anniversary sale and then a few hours on Black Friday, I figured I could share some insider tips on the things you should scoop up now because they never get marked down.

After 19 years of business, it is hard to pick, but I will share my top five. These are a few of my favorite things that I can’t live without:

  1. Jerome Dreyfus Clic Clac: I just got back from market, and when I went to see the Jerome Dreyfus showroom, there were no clic clacs on display. I, of course, asked where they were, and the response left me heartbroken; they said they are not making that style for spring. This isn’t to say that they won’t bring it back someday, but for now, what we have on-site is all we are going to have in stock for a bit, and it truly is the perfect clutch.

  2. Caddis Readers: I probably own more Caddis readers than any other item in our stores. I can’t live without them, and I really think they look great on everyone. I have the Bixby and Miklos style but just picked up a pair of their newest frame, the Porgy. If you are looking for a 1.5 and can’t seem to find them in the color or style you want, it is probably because I purchased them.

  3. Parker Thatch Sling Bag: I wrote about this a few weeks back when it arrived. I haven’t stopped carrying mine since. It is truly the perfect bag. I usually only carry a clutch or a large tote, but this is the optimal in-between bag. If you are someone who walks around a lot and is on the go (which I think we all are), this is a great option. You can be hands-free, and it can hold a ton of stuff.

  4. JW Anderson Slides: I know that not everyone gets these shoes. I see some perplexed looks when I wear them, which makes me happy. We are so lucky to even carry this brand, and we aren’t allowed to mark them down on any ongoing basis. So this really is one of the few chances you will get to grab them on sale.

  5. Fine Jewelry: We carry three lines of fine jewelry: Adina Reyter, Suzanne Kalan, and Apres Jewelry. They are all delicate lines with unique pieces. If you need a special gift for someone or want to buy a gift for yourself, this is your chance to shop our jewelry on sale.

These aren’t the only lines that don’t go on sale often. It is also a great time to shop Veja sneakers, sunglasses, and all the different gifts. And we have so many new arrivals that you won’t want to miss out on. The Smythe collection we just unpacked is beautiful, just to name one.

This anniversary sale is just a little way of allowing us to thank all of our customers over the past 19 years for their loyalty and friendship. I am not sure I can say, “here’s to 19 more,” though, as I don’t think I can do this until I am 70, but we have a few more good years for sure.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
