It’s time for the Old Town Boutique District’s Shop & Stroll. This is when our area’s premier boutiques and businesses participate in a community effort to make shopping fun and give all who participate a hometown welcome to Alexandria. September in Old Town is filled with enjoyable and innovative ways to experience our city. The Shop & Stroll gives participants a variety of ways to receive some free stuff...and who doesn’t love free stuff?!Since weather always plays an important roll in fall activities, two events will share the spotlight this weekend. The King Street Arts Festival dates had to be moved due to the threat of Hurricane Florence. No worries for those of you who look forward to the Shop & Stroll each year. Our fearless leaders at the OTBD have orchestrated a few tweaks to what could otherwise become a chaotic race through the streets that will be filled with strollers, dogs, vendors, sculpture, and tents filled with art! Starting tomorrow, you can download your passport and get started with free parking in Old Town -- an unprecedented occurrence on any normal day. They have also extended the event through Monday, September 24th, giving you another additional day to get your passports stamped. Of course, the big prizes are the major carrot: first prize is a night’s stay at The Kimpton Lorien Hotel & Spa that includes $1,000 shopping spree or second prize receives a $500 shopping spree.The other, even more amazing parts of this weekend are the discounts that will be offered at many of the participating boutiques. TSALT is getting ready for the shopping frenzy and offering visitors 20 percent off new fall merchandise. This makes tomorrow through Monday an optimal time to get some of your big ticket items for fall.I thought it would be fun to get an look at what the staff at TSALT has had their eyes on lately.
