Street Style: Kathleen Le And The Ladies of Salon Meraki

My love for Salon Meraki runs very deep! I’ve lived in Alexandria my entire life, and I’ve frequented many a nail salon in my time. In my opinion, there is no other place that is as friendly, talented, beautifully curated (and so clean!) as Meraki. I love them and the masterful work they do.

I don’t know Kathleen as well as I’d like to, but I’ve gotten to know so many of the wonderful women who work at Meraki, and that speaks so much to the owner - good staff is so hard to find, and Kathleen and her amazing sisters, Jen and Gwen (pictured here), have found them. They always indulge me in silly color combinations and bright designs that I ask them to paint, and they do it so well.

The salon aesthetic can’t be beat. I’m partial to the King Street location because it’s so close to me, but the expanded Queen Street location that re-opened and tripled in size during a global pandemic is inspirational to business owners everywhere. I’m in awe of the decor that is all part of Kathleen’s vision and creativity (the chandeliers, the flower walls, the long manicure tables). Meraki is such a special little oasis in Old Town where I’m always eager to escape. When I’m not hiding from my inbox at the salon, I’ve found I can be highly productive in those pedicure chairs! The place is magic. I’m so excited that Salon Meraki is part of Alexandria Stylebook; they are such a beautiful part of our community.

Owner | Monday’s Child

Born and raised in Alexandria and married to a native Alexandrian as well! We love living in Old Town - just a few blocks from the store - with our three little boys and golden retriever Rumpelstiltzkin. Although my first job and real love was retail (the Lilly Pad where Mint Condition is now), I worked in Public Affairs and PR prior to buying the shop, which has really been a dream come true for me. I feel so grateful to work with our customers to find the perfect outfit for their special childhood moments. When I’m not at the store you can probably find me at an Old Town park chasing the boys or on my yoga mat.

A classic children’s boutique in Old Town, Alexandria for 40 years, we carry special occasion and play clothes for sizes newborn to 12. Located in the historic Crilley Warehouse just two blocks from the water, Monday’s Child is your go-to shop for baby gifts, baptism gowns, holiday dresses and outfits, boy’s blazers and ties, First Communion, shoes, books, toys and much more.
