Parker Thatch: Simple and Practical

I have never been a designer bag person. I know people might find this surprising, since I love both clothes and shopping. But when it comes to bags, I've always been drawn to a more simple, practical shape with no logos – which has led me to my obsession with Parker Thatch.

I like the clean lines, the simple shape and fabrics that look better as they age. Parker Thatch checks all these boxes. I also like their sizes. The larger bags fit my laptop and lots of papers, and the slings and smaller bags are perfect for travel. I have always said I either want a tote, clutch or sling – and I don’t want to carry a separate work bag or satchel. One bag is enough for me and despite being very organized, I can live with a folder full of work invoices thrown in a big bag with my wallet, laptop, and a tube of sunscreen.

Parker Thatch is a small, family-owned brand that is all made by hand in California, and we’ve had them a long time. They really have blown up the last few years and I feel fortunate that we are one of the few stores to still carry the line. We just received a large shipment and went ahead and took darker styles that seem more fitting for fall and winter, because we didn’t want to miss a chance to have all these great styles in stock. Check them out:

Starting July 2nd through July 7, all Parker Thatch bags are 20 percent off. I really can’t say enough about this line. It’s been one of the few designers I have personally bought when it comes to bags for the past few years. My new favorite style is the Jane Slouch which comes in various sizes. I, of course, carry the XL as my work bag. Shop online or in-store.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
