The Robe We All Need This Winter
This is a true story and has not been altered in any way for Alexandria Stylebook. A few years back, Jen Tierney was in the store and was wearing the most amazing sweater coat. It was the perfect tan (don’t laugh; there are good and bad shades of tan.) It was the perfect length and it looked so cozy I knew I had to have it. It was actually from a store I idolized: Need Supply in Richmond, which recently closed. I logged on their site and within days, I had style stalked Jen and was wearing my own cozy tan sweater coat. Yes, it did evoke a little Olsen Twin vibe, but that is what made it so amazing.Needless to say, I wore it all the time. I wore it to NYC for a buying trip and my sister rolled her eyes at it. I just assumed she didn’t “get it.”Fast forward a few weeks and I was picking up my kids from school. I pulled into the parking lot then walked up to a gate to get my kids. I saw one of my friends, Jane Spence, and as I walked up in my new favorite apparel item she exclaimed, “I love your coat - it looks just like my bathrobe.”It was like a dagger in my heart. How could she not see the brilliance of this item? Upon my return home, I looked in the mirror and realized, okay, it does look like a robe. But that is why I loved it. I love bathrobes! So, when we started carrying actual loungewear and I was going through the virtual buying appointment and they featured a quilted version of my favorite winter clothing item, I knew we had to have it.The Sierra robe by Skin is my favorite new clothing item in my wardrobe, but it is actually a robe this time. It is the softest, snuggliest item I own, and I find it hard to get dressed in the morning because I love it so much. I have a feeling this winter might be a cold one, and one spent primarily inside our homes, so this is the exact item we all need.I loved it so much, I even ordered it in both colors.
