Freda Salvador: Styled by The Shoe Hive

We’re really over the moon about the Freda Salvador Trunk Show that starts today! Freda was a brand that we stopped carrying four years ago, and we’re so happy that in the last year we have been able to bring them back to The Shoe Hive. It has always been a favorite of mine, and of everyone else at the stores.

We love all the Freda shoes because of their design and use of color. These are not shoes you see on everyone else. While, yes, they are unique, they are quality and they are comfortable. These are shoes you wear— not just shoes that you look at in your closet. I mean, I think there should be a place in everyone’s closet for shoes they don’t wear often, but are so beautiful you couldn’t resist. But most of your shoes obviously need to be the ones you wear.

A little about the brand: it was started by two friends, Cristina Palomo Nelson and Megan Panay, who met while working at another accessory company. They shared a love of design and combined their skills in styling and shoemaking to create Freda Salvador. They wanted a balance of design and function as well as mindfully sourced and quality leathers and production.

We hope you love the shoes as much as we do. We love their twist on the classics. The modernity of the styles is like nothing else on the market. I asked Madeline to style some looks of the latest arrivals. I already wanted the criss-cross slide, but now I need the D’Orsay sneaker, too. I would add the loafer to the list but I ready own them. Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
