You know how some people give really good hugs? Those same people are usually the ones who look you in the eyes and maybe grab your arms or hand and ask how you are doing. You know they really mean it. It makes me sad to think that the days when we can experience that kind of intimacy again are a long way off. It especially makes me sad to think that I don’t know when I will be able to go to market in NYC again and see one of my favorite people who does just that: Janet from Sola Showroom.I met her years ago when I was hunting down a brand called Diane Cotton. You might remember it -- it was beautiful one-of-a-kind jewelry with vintage beads and other pieces. Well, I was going to see the line and when I entered the showroom, I met the most charming and kind woman: Janet.Right away, we got along. A few visits later I walked in and before I could look at jewelry, she insisted I look at a new line they were carrying.“Liz, I have been saving this line for you,” she said. “It is blowing up on Shopbop and you have to carry it.” Just so you know, she is the only person in the world who calls me “Liz” without me minding it.Well, the line to which I was introduced that day was Think Royln and she was right -- it has been a hit with our customers. Think Royln is a colorful array of bags, coats, ponchos, and accessories made out of nylon. They come in fun shapes and patterns and they are for sure fashion-meets-function pieces. Two friends and moms who have been in the NYC fashion world for 20 years created the line, so they get what it means to have a life on the go.We decided a Think Royln Trunk Show was a great way to launch our summer season of shopping.
