Tibi: With Out Fails
Another term in the Tibictionary that is easy to understand, and one that I live by in my personal wardrobe, is WOFs or With Out Fails. These are the items in your wardrobe that you know, no matter what, will work. They always look great, you are confident when you put them on, and they just make you feel like yourself.
I think my WOFs are the reason I love Tibi so much. About 99 percent of the pieces that I grab when I am in a hurry and don't want to think about what I am wearing, or the pieces I go to when I am packing and want versatility, are Tibi. Let's take the chalky drape jogger, for instance. I wear these to market with loafers or shoes I know I can walk in for miles. If I am headed out to a dinner in Washington, D.C., and want to look dressed but not like a try-hard, I put on my joggers with little strappy heels and a sweater or blazer. I feel comfortable but put together. Maybe I am at a baseball tournament, and I don't want to look overdressed, but I don't want to look like a slob; I grab the joggers, sneakers, and a t-shirt or sweatshirt and am set. When we stop for dinner on the way home, I am so happy I didn't opt for workout tights and running shoes. They also work year-round. Maybe not if it is 100 degrees and I am going to be outside, but with a tank and sandals, I am set for working at the store or heading out for cocktails. If I don't want to wear shorts or I know the air-conditioning will be cranked, the joggers do the trick.
I have learned as I get older, I don't want a lot of options; I want options that work for my life and not just one facet of it. I am not someone who buys a new outfit for a party or dinner. I usually wear a WOF and then add something to it. Great shoes or a bag. It isn't just the joggers. It is the Stella pant in either wool or nylon, depending on the venue. For a Chamber of Commerce event, wool works for sure with a shirt. Dinner at the beach? I grab the nylon. Shoes will vary, but the outcome is the same. I feel like myself. Maybe I am just a creature of habit, but the older I get, the more I feel confident in my style, and I feel good about that.
It isn't just limited to Tibi pants. There isn't a category I don't have something from Tibi that is in constant rotation. I thought I would share some of my Tibi WOFs from the Fundamentals collection. When it comes to getting dressed, redundancy is your friend. Find fundamentals that work and work around them.
