What We’re Wearing This Weekend
From picnic to poolside and everything in between, these are the fits our local small business owners have picked out for the (unofficial) celebration of summer and include a pick from an up-and-coming local designer who’s quickly stealing our style hearts...
Amy: I know there really aren’t any real rules around when to wear white and linen, but I always wait until Memorial Day. An antiquated notion, but it’s something I cling to for no real reason. So, this Memorial Day weekend I will be breaking out my new white jeans and my favorite Frank & Eileen linen dress.
Elizabeth: Typically, my answer is shorts and a T-shirt because I am on the Northern Neck but this year we have lots of celebrations. We just got our pre-fall Ulla delivery which included two tops I’ve been waiting on. I’m going to pair them with jeans for our casual parties and wide-leg pants for a graduation party.
Meaghan: Tim and I planned ahead for Memorial Day and took Saturday off from the shop so that we can spend a long early-summer weekend at our cabin. We plan to have friends over on Sunday for a lazy, food-filled afternoon in the woods and I'll be wearing my new dress from Montmarquet.A, the most gorgeous line of dresses from Alx&Co.'s very own, Antra Montmarquet. I'll be in the Mara Dress, in white, because it's summer!
Kaitlin: A bathing suit! Huzzah! Specifically, a Tara Grinna swimsuit, I love this American-made brand as they have so many different types of tops and bottoms in the same print so that you can find something flattering and comfortable for your body type. I love their prints, but they have a lot of solid options, as well. I am so glad I stumbled upon the brand when I drove past their shop on a road trip with my Mom to Southport and Charleston. Mom and I made a U-turn after seeing their store window, and we both have been addicted to the brand since, they make me feel confident putting on a bathing suit any time of the year!
Adrien: As with every late spring and summer day, I will be in my uniform of cozy shorts, light tees, and birkenstocks!
