What’s Your Dream Winter Date?

Date /dāt/ (noun): a social or romantic appointment.

We propose adding a tad more to this definition. A date is dedicated time to focus your attention on the relationships that matter most—your friends, your family, your children, your partner. Schedule time away from your screens to truly be with your people. Why is that finding things to do during the warmer months feels easy and effortless? And, while it has been pleasantly warm recently, we know that it cannot last. Winter is creeping back into the forecast with all it’s cold glory, and although your couch may be calling, our small business owners are here to inspire you to brave the weather and enjoy a day out with your people, the ones who matter most of all. Read on to discover their dream winter dates…

Dr. Megan: There’s nothing I love more for a friend date than a workout with my buddies!

Margaret: In the winter, all I want is something to warm me up. Lately my winter favorite has been Cafe Banh Mi on Cameron Street—their Pho does just the trick! On a sunny but chilly winter Saturday, it's a great spot for a lunch break after a visit to the Old Town farmers market with girlfriends!

Meaghan: My favorite time to hike is in the winter: the trails are quieter, I don't get hot, and the invigorating cold air is a tonic for my soul. For me, an ideal winter date means going for a nice long hike with "the boys" (Tim, Nolan, and Bill), and then cozying up to a fire with a glass of wine at our cabin. Can't beat it!

Sara: My dream date is going snow tubing at Wisp with my 11 year old son, family and friends! This will definitely become a yearly tradition.

Katelin: My dream dates are always a combo of doing something fun and getting a great meal with someone. The components may change. It could be dinner at Nasime, and then wandering King St. or getting a drink and just talking. It could be day skiing and hot toddies. It could be dinner at the bar of a fun place at the Wharf, and a concert at the Anthem. But, for me, the dream is always more about the person—someone who is okay with how busy my life is and how determined and independent I am. I also appreciate when the person is really sweet and thoughtful. That's the real dream, finding that balance.

Celthia: I love New York City! The hustle and bustle, Times Square, Rockefeller Center, window shopping on 5th Avenue, a cozy ride through Central Park, dinner, and a Broadway show make a perfect and romantic winter getaway!

Johnny: After sunset, grab a cup of hot chocolate together from a Starbucks near The White House. After that, take a walk over to the Washington Monument, and stroll along the National Mall. To round out the evening, we’d grab a couple of cocktails at VUE Rooftop D.C., a rooftop bar overlooking The White House.
