Who's That Girl?? A New Designer at TSALT

Last week Tamara invited me to come to New York with her to assist in putting the Fall '18 buy together. Adding a stylist's perspective of what women are looking for can be an asset during buying season. After all, I’m on the front lines of what is being eliminated and what needs to be included in wardrobes in order to maximize the pieces that already reside in one’s closet. I sometimes put on my analyst hat in order to forecast what will be strong for the coming season. One theory I have is that many woman have invested in leather or suede Moto jackets. While this has now become a modern woman’s a staple, I feel offering alternative outerwear pieces beyond Moto jackets would be a good idea. The other important part of curating boutique collections is to maintain a story from season to season. Offering women items that they will use with purchased items from previous seasons builds client loyalty. Figuring out what to buy at the end of one season for the season that's still six months out can pose some leaps of faith, but having a strong transition story helps guide you to the best choices. We are about to experience the next transition season. Are you ready??One line I suggested to Tamara was Anine Bing. I have been following her on Instagram and really have found her style runs parallel to my own. Anine based her collection on the ten essential pieces that all women need in their wardrobe. Needless to say, the Moto jacket is on her list. More importantly, she is offering an over-sized “borrowed-from-the-boys” blazer. Some of you may have noticed that this has been a major trend among street style bloggers. Anine’s version is very easy, and the price ($349) works nicely when you consider it a staple and as transition outerwear. It is meant to fit over-sized, which makes it a great solution for a variety of women. It’s sized XS, S, M, L, and the touch of red is an added bonus! Here is Anine herself wearing her Madeleine Blazer (she's also seen above in the Moto jacket). You can see why I was drawn to her style. She has that casual sophistication we all hope to achieve. Here she is wearing the blazer with one of her own iconic tees, the Frida high-waisted denim, which will also be arriving, and some statement booties. I love a woman who knows the power of unexpected color!
