Who’s Ready for Red Barn Mercantile’s Holiday Reveal?!

We spend all year planning Christmas. Literally. It starts at market in January when we place our biggest holiday orders. Then we start making infrastructure changes so that we can set ourselves up for success. In July we put our heads down and start the nitty gritty planning and buying and receiving(!), so that by the beginning of November we can reveal all the things we think you will love. It’s hard but it’s truly a labor of love. For us we know that the holidays are full of emotion – love, happiness, stress, and melancholy. It’s our job to make them as joyful and stress-free as possible and we take that job very seriously.

I’m extremely excited for the selection that we curated for you this year and can’t wait for you to see it! On November 7 from 6pm to 9pm Red Barn Mercantile will fling open its door to our annual Christmas wonderland! Join us for sweets from one of the former founders of Buttercream Bakeshop and now-owner of Quince Blossom Ridge, sparkling sips, party favors from our all-time favorite collaborator and basically the star of episode 10, Season 7 of Love Is Blind, Michele from Meant To Be Calligraphy, and discounts of 15% to 30% off your entire purchase depending on how lucky you are.

Last year we managed our capacity for the first time. While there was a line to get in, folks were grateful for the elbow room, safety, and ability to shop. Based on that experiment we will be doing it again this year. If you have to wait in line, we promise to bring you treats and serenade you with Christmas carols from Old Towne Carolers!  New this year is a VIP hour from 5pm to 6pm for our most loyal customers so don’t be surprised if you see a few folks shopping when you get here. (Wink. Wink.)

This is by far our favorite night of the year, and we can’t wait to celebrate with you. See you on November 7!!

Owner Amy Rutherford started Red Barn because she wanted to deliver a service — to provide both old and new in one place. No longer will busy shoppers be limited to reproductions or forced to shop multiple flea markets for the look or gifts they want. The trick in blending old and new, vintage and modern, classic and quirky, is balance. And Amy’s knack for mixing rustic antiques with urban chic has created a look that is both fresh and familiar.

Located in the heart of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, Penny Post is an independent boutique specializing in custom stationery and wedding invitations. Inspired by the art of personal correspondence, the power of handwritten notes, and the smell of freshly printed stationery, we surround ourselves with quirky, hilarious, and classically beautiful things to make life a little brighter.
