Why Wait for Fall? Save Big This Weekend at the Alexandria Sidewalk Sale

It feels like we’ve been prepping for the Alexandria Sidewalk Sale for weeks, and it’s finally here! This weekend is always a big one for Old Town, and this year it’s even better: 31 of us have extended the event from one day (August 9) to three full days, August 8–10. That means more time, more deals, and more reasons to shop.

At The Shoe Hive and The Hive, the deals are insane. Honestly, I had hoped we wouldn’t have as much stock as we do, but as I write this, we have over 600 items marked down—and I mean really marked down.

To give you a preview, I asked Angelica to put together a few full looks using only sale pieces (plus a few accessories from new arrivals and one pair of shoes). All the clothing she used is on major sale.

We’ve got markdowns from nearly every brand we carry. Two of the standout pieces, with most sizes still available, are lightweight jackets from Saint Art. They’re perfect for fall, tailgate season, and those chilly outdoor nights. I’m honestly not sure why we have any left!

One of Angelica’s styled looks includes a TWP jacket, AGL shoes, an Allude sweater, and Citizens of Humanity jeans. Normally, that outfit would cost $1,718, but during the Sidewalk Sale, you can get the entire look for just $600. That’s a savings of over $1,000!

Also worth noting: If you're a size 6 or 6.5 in shoes, you’re in luck. Those sizes always go fast during sales, and we usually have some size 10s left, too.

Swing by The Hive/The Shoe Hive and see what’s in store. All sale items will be marked online as well, so you can shop from wherever you are. And don’t forget to check out all the other participating shops, we’re all working hard to help you gear up for fall in style.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
