Yellow Jacket: For Stylish Men

We started Yellow Jacket out of the belief that Alexandria needed a quality men’s store with broad offerings. Don’t you agree? If so, I hope you will come, shop, and spread the word. To be blunt: we cannot keep our doors open without your support and spreading the word to the men in our town.

I don’t know if I have ever begged in a Stylebook post, but there is a first time for everything. So, here I am praying for you to shop at Yellow Jacket. What’s Yellow Jacket, you may ask? It’s our relatively new men’s store on Cameron Street, loaded with great merchandise.

By now, you know I am a straight shooter, and I’ll be straight with you and tell you we have had a slow start at the men’s store. Men, I have learned the hard way, do not shop recreationally. There is no such thing as “retail therapy” for men, and they don’t feel a need to immediately come to check out the newest boutique in town—if they even know about us at all—until they need one particular item. Instead, they tend to shop when they need a specific item for an event that is happening that night.

Furthermore, we’ve found it particularly challenging to spread the word among Alexandria’s men about Yellow Jacket’s mere existence. I’ve concluded that men do not talk about clothes for fun, as many women do.

And that word-of-mouth challenge means I ordered more merchandise last year than we sold. That means a lot is on sale at a significant discount this year. Moreover, the selections are not picked over—you will find a wide range of sizes in most styles. Quarter zips, button-downs, jeans, sweaters, pants, shorts, swimsuits, workout gear—we have it all, even a few coats and sports coats, and you will love the price.

It took me a season to get the hang of it, but I think we have the best brands and styles for you at Yellow Jacket, brands like Johnnie-O, Sid Mashburn, Vince, Paige, Turtleson, AG, Onward Reserve, and Tasc. Our racks are dead-on with where men’s fashion is right now: elevated casual that’s dressed a bit down for business and slightly up for play. It ranges from stuff that looks great on the golf course to sharp pieces for the office.

Did I mention that we have a lot of stuff? We picked out some of our favorites, but see for yourself. The Warehouse Sale also starts Friday, and Yellow Jacket is open from 10 to 6 Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday from 12 to 5. So, save a bunch of money on stylish clothes, or if you don’t need anything from Yellow Jacket, help me spread the word about the sale and the store.
