Yellow Jacket: Giving My Third Store Its Due

The buzz around Old Town this past holiday season was Pippin Toy Co., the third store opened by Amy Rutherford of Red Barn Mercantile and Penny Post fame. And pilates fans like me are swooning over the new third location of Mind the Mat opened by Megan Brown. I have great respect for both these women, because the third door means a commitment, and you have to make an extra effort to give that third door its due.

My New Year's resolution is to make a bigger commitment to introduce all of you Stylebook readers to my third door – the men’s store, Yellow Jacket, in 2024. We’ve built it with the same goal in mind: bringing you high quality lines, with the best fabrics and classic looks that can take you from the office to dinner and on the road.

Right now Yellow Jacket is having the same major sale as The Hive and The Shoe Hive. That’s right, fall and winter clothes are 50 percent off. If you head in the store literally more than half the store is marked down. Find great pieces from everyone’s favorite brands like Johnnie-O, Sid Mashburn, Vince, Paige and more. If you’ve been wanting to check out the store but haven’t made it in, now’s the time. If you can’t make it in-person, shop online.

Visit Yellow Jacket to see our newest arrivals and sale items. Yellow Jacket is open 10 am to 6pm Tuesday through Saturday and Sunday 12pm to 5pm.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
