“You want the purse you want, so it is worth the investment…”

This week in Alexandria Stylebook I am featuring items you might want to buy with those gift cards that are burning a hole in your wallet. One item at our store that doesn’t go on sale often is purses - especially lines like Parker Thatch and Jerome Dreyfuss. So, in my humble opinion, they are the perfect item to purchase with a gift card. Purses, of course, always fit and we use them more than any other item in our wardrobe, so buying what you love and not waiting for sale time makes perfect sense. You want the purse you want, so it is worth the investment. I thought I would go over the different lines we carry at both stores, giving an analogy of each line.

Jerome Dreyfuss

If you are someone who loves quality but doesn’t want a lot of “fuss,” this is the line for you. Jerome started because he wanted to make bags without logos that were all about quality and function. They all come with a little flashlight inside for when you are rummaging through your bag and can’t seem to see, and they have the greatest compartments, so you can try to avoid that situation altogether.

Clare V.

I would call this our “cool girl” line. It’s very Los Angeles-meets-Paris, which makes sense since the designer is from L.A. but married a Frenchman. The bags are playful, yet modern and when you carry one, I can almost guarantee someone will ask about the amazing bag you are carrying. The leathers are all sourced from Italy and they are made by hand in L.A. The totes and crossbody bags are some of the most popular styles.

Think Royln

This is what I would call our sport line. All of the pieces are nylon, which means they are water-resistant and easy to clean and keep the insides dry! The colors are bright and happy and if you are someone who is on the go, these are the bags for you. Okay, so maybe none of us are on the go like we want to be these days, but soon! Perfect for travel and perfect for around town, you can’t go wrong with one of these bags.

Rag & Bone

I would call this our “city girl” line. It’s all sleek designs that are for the urban dweller. Rag & Bone was one of the first lines to do a leather backpack and the crossbody wallet. Function and durability are a must for all of their bags. Work or play, they have a bag that will fit your lifestyle and you will have it for a long, long time.

Parker Thatch

Cool preppy is how I would describe Parker Thatch. If you do not follow them on Instagram, you need to immediately. It is a husband/wife team, and they have the most likeable and fashionable people around. I love Irene’s (the designer) personal style. She has fun with fashion but always looks pulled together.

The Lilley Line

Locally designed and made in El Salvador, these bags make a statement, support women microbusinesses, and are sustainable. They are handwoven out of the blade of weed whackers so they will never break, no matter how heavy the load. They last forever so you don’t have to replace a reusable bag. So, besides being the chicest reusable shopping bag around, they are perfect for running errands, the beach, or whatever you can dream up.
