Boutique Black Friday
It is hard to believe that Thanksgiving is here! I’m not sure why time goes by so quickly in autumn, but it does. From now until Christmas, it always just seems crazy. With party after party and event after event, it is both a festive and stressful time. And for us, the chaos kicks in when Black Friday launches the holiday shopping season. About 12 years ago we started our Black Friday sale. As everyone knows, it is Danielle's (owner of fibre space) genius idea. The little stores previously had always sat on the sidelines and watched the news, seeing folks lined up at department stores and malls. At Danielle’s urging, we decided to all join forces and get in on the fun. Here is how it works in case you haven’t been to see the Old Town boutique version of Black Friday.
We open all three of our stores at 6am. That’s right, I said 6am. From 6am to 8am, everything is 30 percent off. Even if we just unpacked an item the day before, you can still get 30 percent off. It’s literally the best two hours of savings for the entire year. When the clock strikes eight it moves to 20 percent off. Then at 10am, we move to 10 percent off for the rest of the day. If you get in the door before 8am, you still get 30 off.
It’s a great day in Old Town. So many families have made it a part of their holiday tradition. It’s basically the complete opposite experience of shopping at a mall. You can grab an early cup of coffee, stop in your favorite shops, maybe get brunch, and hit the other non-participating stores that open at 10am.
I thought I would share my thoughts on what I would grab if I were shopping on Black Friday and not working. If I were to pass along some advice, I would go for the newest arrivals or things that don’t ever really get marked down. We unpacked a great delivery of Adina Reyter the other day, along with Illesteva sunglasses and so much more. We also have holiday shipments from Tibi, Smythe, Apiece Apart, L’agence, Veronica Beard and Isabel Marant, just to name drop.
So – get to bed early, set your alarms, program your coffee pots to start brewing at 5am, and come see me!
You might be reading this and thinking – what if I am out of town? The Black Friday sale is in-store only, but don’t worry, we have been working on our website all year. You can get 20 percent starting at 5pm on Sunday when we close our brick and mortar doors for the weekend. You can shop from the comfort of your home (or plane, or car headed back to Alexandria) until Monday, November 28 at midnight.
