Courtyard of Creators: Cheryl’s Bracelet Bar

Since we moved to our courtyard location on South Fairfax Street in 2009, events have been a big part of what we do at The Shoe Hive, and subsequently, The Hive. Whenever we host an event (and gosh how I miss those) at the store, I am always terrified that nobody will come. It even causes me to lose sleep for days. It may surprise you, but even after 15 years of success for the Alexandria Warehouse Sale, with long lines predictably wrapped around rope and stanchion like a Disneyworld ride, each and every year, I worry nobody will show up to shop. So, this summer when I decided to host the Courtyard of Creators, I had the same fear, nobody would want to come to our party. That doesn’t mean my anxiousness did not also include a healthy dose of excitement. When the first application hit my inbox, I jumped for joy! I think it is only fitting that the first person to apply, Cheryl’s Bracelet Bar, is the first ‘new’ person (well, second, but I call her first because I knew Cynthia previously and asked her to launch the series) that we will host in our courtyard.  I love stacking bracelets, and these are the perfect addition to any wrist. Colorful and made by hand, what started as a hobby is now a way for Cheryl to help support her daughter’s college expenses. Cheryl also realized how much joy her work brought to others and decided to officially launch her business. We are so glad she did!Starting Friday, September 11, you can come meet Cheryl and shop her beautiful line. We hope you will come to our party! There is a lot going on at both stores this weekend.I am also proud to tell you we have finalized our fall participants in Courtyard of Creators. Keep reading Alexandria Stylebook to learn about future creators.
