AMO Lookbook & Trunk Show at The Hive

As a boutique with a really long history, we have seen good brands come and go. And we have learned that some brands came, without us noticing. Some of these missed opportunity brands were just a casualty of Covid. They did nothing wrong besides the fact that I just didn’t go to market in person for a bit, and they didn’t find me. We just had a stretch where, with things I wasn’t really familiar with, I passed over on ordering. There is nothing worse than ordering blindly from a line sheet. I literally can't sleep at night when I place a large order and haven’t seen it in person, touched and felt the fabric, and seen how it drapes and moves.

AMO had just arrived at The Hive in 2016, and it did have a good response, so when I was looking for a new line to bring in, I remembered AMO and how much I had loved it. I have an old army green jacket from them that is still one of my favorites.

Since their return last year, the brand has had a great reaction. AMO started as just denim and is known for combining a vintage feel with that great broken-in comfort. It is female-owned by two industry veterans who focus on pocket placement (which really matters when it comes to denim), comfortable waistbands, and silhouettes from the ’60s and ’70s. Made in Los Angeles, these jeans have more of a true denim fabric than a stretch fabric. Think of the denim of your childhood that just gets better the more you wear it. You also don’t have to worry about it looking sloppy after one wear.

AMO isn’t just denim; they have great cotton twill pants and jackets and the softest T-shirts around. Stop in and see our selection of AMO and the styles they sent us just for the weekend. The best part: all AMO is 20 percent off October 8th through October 11th.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
