FREDA SALVADOR Trunk Show at The Hive

It is time for our second shoe event of spring, and it is everyone's favorite shoe line: FREDA SALVADOR.

I must say, they really are having a moment in the fashion world, and it is well deserved. The company was founded in 2012 by two best friends, Cristina Paloma Nelson and Megan Papay. Cristina is a third-generation shoemaker, and some styles are made at her family’s factory in El Salvador. Megan is a former celebrity stylist at Calvin Klein. They are also located in one of my favorite places: Sausalito, California, which is on the quiet side of the San Francisco Bay. If you have ever heard the Otis Redding classic song, “Sitting on the Dock of the Bay,” the dock he is talking about is in Sausalito.

The reason FREDA is the “it” shoe brand right now, in my opinion, is that the designs somehow manage to be classic but fashion forward at the same time. The other important thing is that they are so comfortable.

My favorite style they have is the Jada, a great woven flat that comes in so many different colors and fabrics. We always try to have a Jada in stock. They also sent us a few options for the trunk show and, of course, samples of more colors we can order. You just can’t go wrong with the Jada.

For a lighter flat, they have the Riley. It is a little more open and airy, and perfect for the spring and summer seasons.

The other thing that is working for them is that FREDA is really the brand that brought back the fisherman sandal with the Sera. One of the most popular versions is the Floral PVC, which they sent for the event, and we have the satin version, which I love. The suede and bright colors are always a hit.

Of course, we have lots of sandals, including some heeled versions like the Elaine and a slightly higher version with the Poppy.

I ordered the Mindy for the store in two colors, which means I love it. The thick lug sole is a big trend for spring, and I am hoping it solves all my foot issues. Dare to dream.

Stop in starting Thursday, April 23 through Sunday, April 26 to see our trunk show selection and receive 20 percent off FREDA SALVADOR.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
