Effortless & Perfect Sets for Summer

I know everyone is sick of hearing about sets, but there isn’t a season that goes by when we don’t have a ton of different options. This summer is no different. There are sets for all occasions, and we keep getting more in every week. The set trend also isn’t going anywhere. I just got back from Resort Market, and it was, once again, all about sets. Read more about that later in Alexandria Stylebook.

So what is new for summer? One set (or two) that we haven’t had before is sweat sets from The Great. I am so excited about the return of this brand, and my 19-year-old daughter is as well. These are perfect for summer travel. After a long day at the beach or pool, I love putting on a cozy set. When it gets colder out, or if you are lucky enough to go to the mountains or Maine, we have great cardigans to throw over them.

If you want something a little dressier, try the Tibi lightweight sweatshirting. Yes, it is a sweatsuit, but it is so easy to make it look like much more. I have it in so many colors, and when I travel with it, I wear the pieces together, separately, and dressed up with a blazer. It really is the perfect travel set.

Then, of course, we have silk sets. The lace trend is going strong, and we have two options: one from Citizens of Humanity in brown and one from Anine Bing in black. This fall, the lace look is in every collection as well.

Last but not least, we have short sets from Apiece Apart, Anine Bing, and Frank & Eileen. They are such an easy way to feel put together without being overdressed. The Apiece Apart set came in black earlier and literally flew off the racks.

There are more arriving. I can’t wait for the mint-green Citizens track set to arrive later this summer. I have last year’s version in navy and wore it all the time when I worked from home or on weekends when not much was going on. I just love the color.

Stop in and check out our new arrivals. The summer sale is still going strong.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
