The Great is Back at The Hive
I was trying to recall when we carried the brand, The Great. I think it is back when we were at 127 South Fairfax and we just had a few racks of clothes rolled onto the sales floor. It had almost been a decade since then, which is hard to believe.
I think we actually carried them the first year they launched in 2015. Some customers might remember the line Current Elliot as well. I think at home I just threw away a tank top from them that I kind of wish I hadn’t. When we first found them, we could not keep them in stock and the original designers for Current Elliot are the founders of The Great, Emily Current and Meritt Elliot.
The two women are best friends and have been business partners for 2 decades. I love carrying female designers, especially brands where the two founders are best friends. If you know the line, it is known for its comfort and everyday ease. It is a classic take on Americana and they always do great collabs with brands like Birkenstock, Stetson and The Great Outdoors. If you are on Instagram you for sure have seen their cardigans, especially the horse lodge. When I went searching to find this cardigan, I realized we should carry the line. I have to credit my daughter as well for being obsessed with sweaters like this and alerting me to their demand.
This summer we brought in the Bass Cardigan, a twist on a 1970s fisherman sweater. Of course I could not pass up the terry cloth sets, either; I just can’t ever seem to say no to a cute set. Then of course we stocked up on their bandanas. Bandanas are having a moment and the scallop version and classic version are some of the cutest ones around.
Don’t worry, we have more coming in next month as well and some of their fleeces for fall. We are so excited to have The Great back at The Hive, we hope you are too.
