Denim Done Right at The Hive

Everywhere you look—on influencer roundups or in magazines (do those still exist?)—there’s always a list of wardrobe must-haves. One item that consistently earns its spot is the denim shirt, and for good reason. I’d even argue you need more than one. I’m slightly embarrassed to admit how many I own, but then again, I work in retail.

Walking through the store the other day, I realized just how strong our current denim shirt lineup is. No matter what style you’re after, we likely have it. I recently added the Charlie denim shirt from Tibi to my collection. It sells out every year, and I’ve somehow missed it every time—until now. It’s a lighter-weight denim with just the right amount of ease.

If you’re drawn to a more western-inspired look, the Mustang Sally from TWP is a home run. They release this cut every season in new colors, and yes, I own it, too. If you like that western feel but want something lighter, Ann Mashburn has a great option that hits that sweet spot.

Lilla P also delivered a few denim shirts this season at a great price point—perfect if you’re just starting to build your denim shirt collection. Another essential is the Eileen by Frank & Eileen. Known for their shirting, this is their most popular cut for a reason: easy, flattering, and endlessly versatile.

Last but not least, we have two heavier-weight options that edge into “shacket” territory: the Wilson by TWP and the Dante by Anine Bing. I like to style these as I would a sweatshirt or grab one instead of a jacket on a chilly day.

As you can see, we’re fully stocked with denim shirts that work now and carry straight into spring. Stop by to see our newest arrivals and find the one—or two—you’ll reach for again and again.

Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
