Tibi Picks Everyone Will Love at The Hive

I often hear clients say things like, “I’m just not cool enough for Tibi.” Or another one: “I just don’t like oversized clothes—they make me look big.” Another favorite is, “I just don’t get it.”

I’m here to tell you that you are cool enough, Tibi has plenty of fitted pieces, and oversized doesn’t make you look big. Sometimes you need an oversized piece to balance an outfit or create a sense of ease. I promise that if you try some of the pieces, you’ll get it.

I realize that not everything is for everyone. There are Tibi pieces that I don’t wear. I know that’s hard to believe, but it’s true. If there’s a cutout in the back or something that’s really low-cut, I’m not going to wear it. I wish I could, but I know I won’t feel comfortable, so I don’t try. There are also some pieces that just aren’t “me,” even though they look great on other people. But I promise there are pieces in this collection that everyone will wear—and wear often—if they simply give them a try.

Tibi makes skirts for people who don’t wear skirts. I can’t explain it, but they’re flattering, comfortable, and some of the most-worn pieces in my closet. Personally, I love the Maxi Trouser Skirt the most. I feel the most like myself when I’m wearing it, whether it’s in wool or nylon. I wear it with button-downs, sweaters, T-shirts, lightweight knits, or sweatshirts. I can wear it with heels, flats, boots, or loafers—they all look great. It’s flattering on everyone.

My sister loves the Sunray Skirt, and she literally wears no other skirt. Tibi always introduces a few seasonal skirt styles as well, and this year is no different. There’s a Wool Trouser Skirt, a Zip Midi Trouser Skirt that’s simple but has a little more interest while still being easy to style, and a Wool Plaid Double Apron Wrap Skirt that would make a great addition to anyone’s wardrobe.

Besides the skirts, I would encourage everyone to try Tibi’s lightweight sweaters, T-shirts, and tanks—they’re perfect for layering.

The Featherweight Rib Sweaters are especially great. The neckline is perfect, the weight is perfect, and the way they skim the body without clinging is perfect. I can’t imagine anyone not loving one of these sweaters. They’re the kind you reach for again and again.

Last but not least—and really, there are so many more pieces I think everyone would love—you should try anything made from Tibi’s viscose fabric. It may just change your life. I wish you could feel the fabric through the screen as you read this. The way it drapes and feels is unlike anything else I’ve ever worn. It also travels beautifully, and you can easily dress it up or down.

So if you’ve ever thought Tibi wasn’t for you, I promise there’s something in the collection you’ll love. Stop by on Thursday, April 20, if you’d like to meet Amy or Christine. Most of the styling appointments are already booked, but we’ll do our best to make sure everyone has the opportunity to work with Amy, and our entire team will be there to help. The trunk show collection will also be in-store all weekend, so you’ll have plenty of time to shop. Our book club on Wednesday evening is another great opportunity to meet Amy and the Tibi team. Owner | The Shoe Hive/The Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
