The Hart Bar: Make Your Own Necklace at The Hive

I think the Hart folks once told me that we were their first wholesale account. Does anyone remember the tassel earrings? We sold them in a million different colors and I still have them in my jewelry collection. We introduced them at The Shoe Hive back in 2016 before we opened our clothing store, so we have grown with the brand.

When Hart Hegarty expanded into her custom charms, it really put her on the map. At that time, she was the only one doing anything like it. Many have tried to emulate but she is still the original, making her own custom charms that she designs and produces. The quality is different as well. You can literally just tell from the weight of the charms. They are obsessed with quality and use a thick layer of gold-plating so the pieces don’t tarnish.

Here’s the great thing about a Hart necklace, they have so many special charms that help create a personalized piece that really tells a story and represents you and the things you love. It’s a great gift for anyone in your life and something they can keep adding on to as well. So many people bring in a daughter or a friend and make a necklace. You can see how much fun people are having and when they put on their necklace—their face just lights up.

Each year they have more charms and new styles of necklaces. I love the pearl necklace they recently launched.

The Hart team will be in store for two days to help you create your own personalized necklace and just in time for Valentine's Day. You can do a simple necklace with just one charm or load it up with as many charms as you want. We are so lucky to have them pop-up at The Hive at 315 Cameron Street. No appointment is necessary – but make sure you allow for enough time to get your order right. They will do their best to accommodate everyone. Stop on Friday, February 7 from 10am to 6pm, or Saturday, February 8 from 10am to 5pm.

Owner | The Hive and The Shoe Hive

I spent the first part of my career as a copywriter who helped elected officials brag about their support for entrepreneurs. Then I decided to get off the printed page and do it myself. The Shoe Hive made a splash on the fashion scene in Washington, and was named the region’s best shoe store in its first year. Fourteen years later, I have tripled the store’s size and also opened a sister store, The Hive.  At The Hive, we offer clothing lines that are sophisticated and approachable like Rag & Bone, Tibi, Raquel Allegra, Ulla Johnson and Veronica Beard. We have tried to fill our racks with clothing you will want to wear all the time, elevated basics that are worth the investment.
