Introducing Suzanne Kalan Fine Jewelry
When we expanded The Hive, one of the things I was most excited about was having more space for fine jewelry. Adina Reyter has been a customer favorite at The Shoe Hive, and I knew we could find a line to compliment but not duplicate it. I wanted something delicate but modern. I had been in Houston this past summer and remembered seeing a line that was so unique at one of my favorite stores there. The brand was Suzanne Kalan, and I knew it would be a perfect fit for us.
Like I said, I have never seen anything else like it. The pieces are colorful, and the unique settings catch your eye. Come to find out, it is a mother and daughter design team based out of California. Suzanne Kalan’s family owned a jewelry store in Lebanon, so she was raised in the business. Her father taught her about jewelry design and production, and she always designed pieces for friends and family. In 1988 she decided to turn her passion into a company. Fast forward to 2012, and her daughter joined the business and designs the Kalan by Suzanne Kalan collection that we now carry. It is all 14kt gold with custom-cut gemstones and made to order by hand in their studio in California. Creating a single piece can take up to two weeks, and I love knowing each one was made just for us.
