"Myself and my closet have been big fans ever since..."

We all love learning about the latest fashion, pop culture, and trends in Alexandria Stylebook. We have found so many incredible wardrobe pieces within the Old Town Boutique District (and are already looking forward to next year’s warehouse sale). Specifically, we have found so many shoe staples at The Shoe Hive. We all know the incredible Elizabeth Todd is the owner of The Shoe Hive and The Hive, but she is also the Co-Founder of Stylebook, The Boutique District and Founder of the Warehouse Sale  In my mind Elizabeth is the OG of Alexandria retail. I first heard about her store when I came home from college and all of my friends would say, “My mom’s taking me to The Shoe Hive.” It was such a fashion staple already in the community. So, when I got my first paycheck, I was so excited to run down there and experience the magic. Myself and my closet have been big fans ever since. Elizabeth has always had a rockstar mentality, especially in 2003, when she worked a full-time job, while simultaneously opening The Shoe Hive. The boutique is now a favorite throughout the Washington, D.C. area and beyond. And want to know a fun fact? Things really started to take off in 2007 when Elizabeth brought on a new brand that you all now know well, called Tory Burch. No one had her shoes yet and they weren't widely distributed. The Shoe Hive was one of the only boutiques around the nation to have these signature flats.   From the beginning, Elizabeth quickly saw that this community was filled with supportive women and the strong mentality of “Shop Local, Support Local.” This notion is what would generate the ideas for the Boutique District and Stylebook. The blog was created after a conversation with Angela Sitilides, from Bellacara, about creating a DailyCandy for Alexandria. There were enough boutiques and amazing fashion entrepreneurs to have endless incredible content.Want to hear all the details about Alexandria retail and upcoming spring must-haves?
