Puff Sleeves Are Back And Better Than Ever
I am sure some of us thought the puff sleeve trend might end. Well, it hasn’t.After our coming of age years, I am sure some of you thought you would never see padded shoulders again, either. Well, they are back.I know we all loved Working Girl and Pretty in Pink but not all of us are ready for 80s fashion to return. But like it or not, it is here. If you watched the Emmys it seemed like a trip down memory lane. When I see the Molly Ringwald look, I sometimes think: “Ugh, I can’t do this again.” When it comes to some exaggerated sleeves and shoulders, however, I am all in. I know it is not for everyone, but I would encourage folks to at least give it a try! There are sleeves of every shape and size. Like the Citizens of Humanity t-shirts with the slightly puff sleeve. It just makes the shirt a littler dressier and more interesting. We recently unpacked a Veronica Beard blazer that looks typical on the hanger but when you put it on, you immediately see the shoulder has extra definition and padding that takes it from basic to a statement.I was recently reading an article in The Washington Post by Robin Givhan about this trend and I think she has a pretty good outlook on it. She stated that in the 80s maybe they were around for a power stance but maybe this time around it is because women are ready to take on the world. I think I agree with her.
